• Question: why do you think you should get the prize money?

      I would like to get the prize money because I want to organise a series of workshops on technology and mental health, which target both teachers and students. There has been a rise in mental health issues amongst school children. Although schools are working hard to manage this and provide students with support, there is not a lot of information out there on how technology can help with this There are a lot of websites and apps which can help students to monitor their mental health. Therefore my workshops will introduce these novel types of technologies to both students and teachers. Overall this can help teachers to support their students and can help students manage their wellbeing !

      To be honest, I entered this event to engage with students and promote my profession. After a few days spent in the chat rooms, I’m now feeling super competitive and I’m in it to win it!!
      Myself and my team go to school career fairs and we do not have many resources that we can use to demonstrate to students what it is we do for a living. I would spend the money on poster boards, and “fake” germs and specimens so we can show students like you what we do and hopefully inspire some of you to get into healthcare science 🙂

      To be perfectly honest I really don’t mind about the prize money, I really do just enjoy answering everyone’s questions as best as I can! I could do much with the money though! I would have to think hard because I know of several good causes – I know a traveling lecturer who visits schools to provide expert teaching sessions who is in dire need of new transport – alternatively I manage a project designed to equip STEM ambassadors with resources to take into schools and I know it could do with more funds! Also I would like to facilitate some school sessions promoting Lithic analysis and the study of stone tools. I really haven’t thought about though as I genuinely do just want to help you all understand more things 🙂
