      No, because we have a lot of protective equipment to ensure that this doesn’t happen. We wear lab coats all of the time, and gloves and goggles when handling specimens. We also do a lot of training in a technique called aseptic technique which allows you to handle specimens without passing germs on to yourself or other people. Lab staff also have to make sure they have had all of their vaccinations before starting work.
